Protect Yourself from the Coronavirus and other airborne particles

Another day, another potential catastrophe.  This Coronavirus has many people on edge and maybe it should?  Reports on the current outbreak are all over the place and we don't want to assume to know exactly how many people are affected or how bad the virus actually is - healthwise.  However, we definitely want to help anyone looking to prepare by offering a short guide and steps to protect yourself.  Below we are gonna talk about what the Coronavirus is, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you suspect you or someone else may have it.  Also, NY Times has a great article that is staying up to date on information regarding the Corona virus that you can go to here (opens in separate window): NY Times coronavirus article

What is the Coronavirus?

I could pretend to be an expert in biology, but what good would that be?  Below is an exerpt taken from a better source with more knowledge:  healthline.com.
Note that all links will open in a new window, that way you can easily go back and forth between pages without having to press the back button constantly.

"According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Trusted Source, “coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in many different species of animals.”

The CDC says that rarely does the animal coronavirus infect people.

However, this most current strain is a new respiratory virus that was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, which has been infecting people.

The World Health OrganizationTrusted Source says that common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. Rarer, more severe cases can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and in the most extreme, death.

Symptoms may appear in as few as 2 days, or as long as 14, after exposure.

Like previous coronaviruses, this particular virus likely emerged from an animal source, though experts aren’t sure which one as of yet.

Now the virus is being spread from person to person. Typically coronavirus infections are transmissible person to person only once someone infected is showing symptoms, however, the Chinese health minister is indicating that this particular strain may be infectious when people aren’t yet sick."

How to Protect Yourself

Now that you somewhat know what you are dealing with, how can you protect yourself and your loved ones?  Below are three steps you can take to protect yourself and prepare yourself.

1.) Don't Travel!

What I mean by this is don't fly if you don't have to.  Airborne Illnesses are highly contagious on airplanes due to their small spaces and crap air circulation.  Furthermore, if you plan on traveling to China, consider rescheduling until this "epidemic" cools off (my colleague and myself had to do just that).

2.)  WASH WASH WASH

Wash your hands, wash your face.  Carry disinfectant.  And pay attention to what you touch.  Touching a shopping cart?  Disinfect it before and after!  Yeah, this stuff seems common sense, but it TRULY makes a difference.  Better to be safe than sorry.

3.)  Prepare yourself with the right equipment.

Have you noticed all my big red buttons?  Our masks (and many others) can help protect yourself from a.) breathing in too many unwanted particles, including viruses and b.)  prevent you from spreading the virus.

What to do if you think you may have the virus or someone you know may have it

First off, if you got the virus - I am sorry.  But it's not the end of the world!  Vaccines are getting closer each day.  But here are 4 steps you need to take to prevent the spread and help get you back healthy and buying more of our products (just kidding, but seriously).

1.)  Don't read articles on the internet, silly!  Go get checked out by a doctor.
Only a doctor can truly differentiate between different types of sicknesses.  Reading about all the symptoms online will just get your anxiety up and worsen your symptoms, ironically.  So check in with a doctor immediately.

2.)  Follow your doctors instructions and STAY HOME or at the hospital.  Keep yourself clean and take care of yourself.  By making sure you are getting better, you are helping everyone around you.

3.) (Prepare for another product link) - Get yourself a disposable mask!  Unfortunately, Parcil Distributions is not selling these at this time, however, below is the Amazon's Choice" for disposable masks.  These are excellent for preventing others from getting sick, supposedly.  And yes, we are giving you a link to one of our biggest competitors!  That's how much we care.

3M 8511 Respirator, N95, Cool Flow Valve (10-Pack)

4.)  And finally - don't give up on hope.  From a personal standpoint, I truly believe that your attitude towards being sick is a major factor on whether you get healthy or get worse.  Stay positive.  You got a lot of people working towards beating the coronavirus!
